Prospective Company Drivers: Flatbed Fleet
Thank you for considering Mitchell Bros. Truck Line, Inc. We represent a fleet of drivers that we believe are the finest in the industry today. Mitchell Bros. is a premier flatbed and container company based out of Vancouver, WA (just across the river from Portland, Oregon). Our flatbed fleet primarily serves customers in the five Western States: Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Montana.
Our flatbed division has newer model, conventional tractors along with 48 and 53-foot straight deck trailers, step decks, container chassis, and more.

Based on openings, Mitchell Bros. will assign you to the fleet that works best for you, however, work may include occasional runs outside your assigned fleet area. |
LOCAL FLEET = primarily runs within 50 mile radius of home terminal in Vancouver, WA.
SHORT HAUL FLEET = primarily runs Oregon & Washington.
TACOMA - SEATTLE BASED FLEET = runs Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana. Note: This fleet may include some British Columbia (Canada).

$17.50 Note: To be eligible for this pay scale drivers must 1) reside in the Tacoma-Seattle area, 2) must park their assigned tractor in either the Tacoma or Seattle yard, and 3) must regularly start and end your shift at either the Tacoma or Seattle yard. |
Note(s):
1. Drivers shall be eligible for overtime pay after exceeding 40 hours in a Sunday through Saturday work week. The overtime rate shall be your regular hourly rate plus 1/2 of your hourly rate.
2. Drivers who work a shift of 5 hours or more are expected to take a one-half hour unpaid meal break between the 2nd and 5th hour of working. Meal breaks are not to be taken at the beginning or end of a shift. There are some exceptions when hauling hazardous material cargo. Any other exceptions must be authorized by your dispatcher/supervisor.
ADDITIONAL PAY & BENEFITS FOR DRIVERS IN OUR FLATBED FLEET:
- $250.00 Sign On (Safety) Bonus after 30 days *continuous employment with no preventable accidents/incidences, freight claims, moving violations, or out-of-service violations issued by a law enforcement agency. Sign On (Safety) Bonus is for "new" drivers only. Drivers who are be RE-HIRED are not eligible for sign on bonus. Any Mitchell Bros. owner-operators or respective hired drivers that elects to switch and become a company driver will not be eligible for bonus. *Note: Continuous employment shall be defined as performing full-time work (i.e. driving duties) and/or being available for full-time work (i.e. driving duties) at Mitchell Bros.
$25.00 a day for attending ORIENTATION …plus motel provided if you live outside of a 50 mile radius. Payment for attending orientation shall be issued on paycheck only after 30 days continuous employment. Note: Payment for attending orientation is available for “new” prospective drivers only. Drivers who are being RE-HIRED or owner-operators switching to be a company driver are not eligible to receive payment for attending orientation or motel benefits.

$75.00 a day for participating in "RIDE-A-LONG" program. Prospective drivers in our container fleet will likely spend 2 or 3 days riding with one of our senior drivers as the final part of our hiring process. Ride-a-long payment shall be issued on scheduled paycheck only after 30 days continuous employment. Drivers who are being RE-HIRED or owner-operators switching to be a company driver are not eligible to receive payment for participating in “ride-a-long” program.
- $20.00 per night approved layover pay after first night. Must be away from our home terminal of Vancouver, WA to be eligible for layover pay.
- $5.00 per week phone allowance to contact customer(s) using the Mitchell Bros. issued EFS Transportation card. Any balance left over can be used for personal use such as calling home to family members.
- Medical, Prescription, Dental, & Life Insurance Coverage: Mitchell Bros. will pay 100% of insurance premium for eligible employee. Our primary medical coverage is through Kaiser Permanente. For drivers who live outside the Kaiser Permanente coverage area the coverage will then be provided by Group Health. Medical, prescription, and dental coverage is available for eligible family members. The premium for eligible family members is set up to be deducted from your paycheck(s). We do have a Section 125 Plan available so the premium can be deducted Pre-Tax.
- Vision Plan is available. Routine eye examinations are
covered under Kaiser Permanente and Group Health Insurance plan. If you
would like a complete optical plan ask company representative about an "Eye
Med Vision Care" plan which is available.
Note(s) : If you would like a complete list of our current health care, dental and vision insurance rates to add a spouse/family, please ask a company representative. Eligibility for coverage is available the 1st day of the month following 90 days of employment. Health care premium rates are subject to change.
- Vacation
- 1 week after 1 year of continuous employment
- 1 week after 2 years of continuous employment
- 2 weeks after 3 years of continuous employment

•Referral Bonus Pay. You can earn extra money if you refer a company driver or owner-operator (excluding lease purchase operator) that we sign on. For more complete details, ask company representative.
- 401 K Plan (Eligible to participate the next quarterly period following 90 days of employment.)
- AFLAC Insurance is available through tax-deferred, payroll deductions.

$150 Cash Advance is available for our over-the-road drivers automatically off EFS card. $50 cash advance is available for drivers in our “local based” fleets. All advances are subject to 5% fee charged by Mitchell Bros. The nominal EFS transaction fees shall be charged back to the driver. There shall be no 5% charge or EFS transaction charge on reimbursable expenses. The amount of advance(s) shall be deducted from driver's next scheduled pay check.
- Direct Deposit Available.
- Pay Days: Mitchell Bros. issues paychecks on the 15th and the last day of the month, however, if payday falls on a Sunday, the paycheck will be released the following Monday. A calendar showing "cut off" dates for turning in paperwork along with scheduled pay days will be issued to you during orientation.
